CrowdProperty

We’re excited to welcome Steve Smith to CrowdProperty as our new Head of Sales. Steve will lead our sales strategy, focusing on strengthening broker relationships and increasing developer engagement.

Steve originally joined CrowdProperty in February 2024 as Head of Intermediaries, where he managed our broker relationships across England and Wales. After leaving in July 2025 to join bridging specialist LendCo, he has now returned to CrowdProperty in an expanded role.

As Head of Sales, Steve will oversee both broker relationships and direct-to-developer origination, helping connect brokers and SME developers with CrowdProperty’s specialist development finance solutions.

Deep experience in specialist finance

Steve brings more than two decades’ experience in financial services, with a strong track record in client acquisition, relationship management and strategic sales leadership. During his career he has held senior roles with several well-known names in specialist finance, including Mint, Roma and Shawbrook.

His experience across both the intermediary and development finance markets gives him a strong understanding of the needs of brokers and developers, and how specialist lenders like CrowdProperty can support projects from concept through to completion.

A fresh perspective on CrowdProperty

Reflecting on his decision to return, Steve said time spent working elsewhere in the sector reinforced the important role CrowdProperty plays in the specialist development finance landscape.

During my time away, I recognised two important things. Firstly, there remains strong demand in the market for CrowdProperty’s offering – particularly among brokers looking for a reliable, specialist development finance partner. Secondly, it was clear the business has evolved and was moving forward with renewed clarity and direction.

I’ve repeatedly seen demand for the funding solutions CrowdProperty provides – from heavy refurbishment and ground-up development to more complex schemes such as airspace, conversions, and modern methods of construction. I’m convinced that CrowdProperty occupies an important and distinctive part of the market and am excited for the opportunities ahead.

Supporting brokers and developers

Steve says CrowdProperty’s sharpened focus and collaborative culture were also key factors in his decision to return.

The team is leaner but more focused, with everyone aligned around the same shared goals. There’s a renewed energy and commitment to doing the right deals, in the right way, for the right customers. I believe I can add real value at this stage of the company’s journey – strengthening relationships and helping more developers access the specialist funding they need to build much-needed homes.

Our CEO, Steve Deutsch, welcomed Steve back to the business.

We were sorry to see Steve leave last year, although we supported his decision to pursue a new opportunity. We’re thrilled that he has chosen to return and be part of CrowdProperty’s future.

Steve brings strong market knowledge and a clear determination to get deals done, while maintaining the standards and discipline that underpin our lending model. He understands both development finance and the importance of supporting brokers and developers through the full lifecycle of a project.

Steve’s return is a strong endorsement of the direction we are taking. We have right-sized the business, sharpened our focus and reinforced our commitment to specialist development lending. Our expertise in complex projects – including heavy refurbishments, airspace developments and conversions – sets us apart in a competitive market.

Looking ahead

Steve is focused on strengthening CrowdProperty’s relationships with brokers and developers, while ensuring more projects benefit from the lender’s specialist development finance solutions.

I’m excited about the opportunity ahead – building on the strong foundations already in place, strengthening our relationships with brokers and developers, and helping more SME developers access the funding they need to deliver high-quality homes.

Steve embodies our customer-focused approach and our commitment to connecting developers, brokers and investors to deliver high-quality homes across England and Wales.

With Steve now leading our sales function, we look forward to continuing to strengthen relationships with brokers and developers while supporting the delivery of much-needed homes across England and Wales.
